Many of you have heard of the church IHOP, International House of Prayer, out of Kansas City. (Yes, the REAL IHOP sued the church for trademark, but later dropped the suit.)
Mike Bickle, the pastor of IHOP started in the Vineyard movement, then started his own church. We have heard nothing but terrible things ever since.
“Among the most notable — or notorious — of these Cruz endorsers is Mike Bickle, the pastor who runs the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Mo. Bickle has preached that in the “End Times” God will raise up someone to hunt down Jews who fail to accept Christ — someone, he imagines, in the mold of the most famous Jew hunter of them all, Adolf Hitler. Among Bickle’s other end-of-the-world teachings is that Oprah Winfrey is unwittingly part of a “Harlot movement” that is paving the way for the Antichrist. He also predicts that the gay agenda, which he says is “rooted in the depths of hell,” will lead to the elimination of marriage as an institution.”
One of his most egregious acts is his involvement with Uganda and its anti-gay policies that call for the death of the LBGTQI community.
Now, he’s been caught in “clergy sexual abuse.” Below is a statement from some of the leaders.
Here’s Karen’s synopsis. Sorry, there are no captions.
What I can glean is Bickle used his spiritual authority to manipulate multiple women. Were they affairs, one-time encounters? No idea. However, it does not seem like anything crossed over into illegal territory. If it did, it better get reported.
Pay attention to 2nd paragraph.
Thoughts?
Why are all the people signed to this letter “former” things? Why aren’t we seeing something from current leadership team if they’ve been made aware of the allegations?
This does not surprise me. Back in my crazy days, I was fascinated with Harp and Bowl worship and attended a conference in Franklin, TN. I was thrilled that Mike was going to be there to teach on this and the Song of Songs. When he walked into the room, I immediately thought that he seemed very full of himself. He came across as very self important and it seemed like it was a bother to him to even be there. At the time I did not trust my instincts. Of course I thought it was “the devil trying to deceive me” from hearing this “anointed man of gawd.” Once I left the church I realized that my instincts were right. Nothing good has ever came out of “IHOP”.
